1999 Chevy Cavalier cooling fan

I have a 99 2.4l cavalier it has been running hot I strait wired to fan and it started working the motor got really hot and it slowed down when I moved it around moved faster then just stop working all together should I replace to motor and can I just replace the motor and not the housing and everything

You can try replacing it w/o the housing depends if its available

Yes they sell just the motor waited to check if that was a good way to go
