1998 Chevy Cavalier clutch pedal

My clutch pedal felt like it was gonna break . When I pushed it down I heard a crack noise and it stayed stuck to the floor. It goes back up if I pull it up but when I push it down it stays stuck to the floor. Could that be the cable that broke?

Clutch is hydraulic no cable has a master cylinder and an acctuator

may have acctuator or pressure plate failure
