Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 90k + miles

Oil light flickers at IDLE, sometimes stalls
ok w. Acceleration and performance (no leak)
? Oil pump, ? Timing belt.
sometimes runs warm 220 (Tstat replaced) and triggers oil light at IDLE.

220 isnt really warm, about where the cooling fan should turn on. Install a manual oil pressure gauge to verify pressure at idle, if ok, then you most likely needa new sending unit. If not (low) could be the pump, but would need to do a little inspection to be sure.
