i was wondering if there is supposed to be any holes on my exhaust at the rear of the car, if im not supposed to the if i do would it trigger a check engine light code po420

No holes in exhaust, some exhaust heat shields may have holes for cooling.

The P0420 code is a downstream O2 sensor (sensor after or in convertor).
Generally changing this, and have codes erased will solve problem, if not and code reappears, then the convertor itself would be suspect.
