1997 Chevy Cavalier 149,000 2.2

The car had been running just fine all day and then just out of no where it wouldnt go no where. The engine stayed running just fine and everything but we would give it gas all it would do is just rev up the engine. The shifter will go all the way up and down but wont shift into any gears.
