Engine Performance problem
1996 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl FWD Manual miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
ticking noise coming from area of distributor/throttle body, engine rumbles and sounds like it is not running at peak performance. car stalls momentarily at 35-40 mph and then keeps going. fuel filter, injectors, air filter, O2 sensors, and spark plugs have all been replaced and all of this occurs at all gears. any comments would be very much appreciated, we've spent a lot of money on this car.

try using throttle body cleaner, some carbon may have gotten into it clogging one of the holes. you say you have ticking? is it like a valve ticking or something else?

the ticking noise you say you hear by the back of the engine when the engine is running, sounds like a lifter problem, get a compression checked and see if there is a bad lifter.
