has anyone successfully used 'Steel Seal' to repair a bad head gasket?
I cannot afford $1000 repair

any suggestions?

Unfortunately, there is no repair-in-a-tube type product to fix a blown head gasket. Steel seal, bars leak and JB Weld all will work for minor cooling system leaks; however, if you have a leaking head gasket that is consuming coolant you will have to replace it, no way out of it.

I am not a big fan of it
some like it and used it and say it works
I think it will give you more problem later on and will clog the system
and may damage the radiator if instruction not followed to the T
and is in it about $80 the gasket is cheaper
you have to do it your self
