Starter Won't Engage.

1992 Chevrolet Cavalier manual 4 speed on the floor.

New starter. Bench tested and is good. New ignition switch. Assuming it is good. I crossed / bypassed the neutral safety switch located on the floor under the clutch pedal. Good battery. All the lights and accessories work from the ignition switch. The starter won't engage when the ignition switch is turned to the start position. However, when I cross the starter posts the starter will engage and start the car. The car runs fine. The manual shows no fuses for the start system. This model does not have a starter relay per Schucks and Napa..The only fuse box I can find is under RS dash and there are "No" blown fuses. I'M frustrated enough to install a start button.

Any suggestions why the starter won't engage?

Have helper hold key to start position, check for power at the yellow wire on the clutch switch-no power means either the wire is open or the ignition switch itself.

There is no power to the yellow wire.

What dos that mean exactly?

What are the chances that the igition switch I purchased from schucks is bad?

You need to check it at the switch side to confirm it
