Transmission problem
1989 Chevy Cavalier 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 314k miles

Recently replaced; 1989 model ; was replaced with a low mileage engine & trans mission from a 1987 model & ever since I got it back from halfwit mechanic it has stalled when you stop & stays in 1st& 2nd gear way too long ; around 3500 rpm to 4000 rpm before shifting ; would appreciate any solutions ; I do remember him saying the plugs(electrical connectors on the 2 trannys were different ; I would have figured he would have had to cut & re-wire plugs ; I raised the hood & original plug straight into harness is still intact ; could he have changed the female connector on the tranny itself & not be compatible or what ; I have waited 17 months for my car & all he did was take my money ; called him about it & said need to drive it enough to set the computer (50 miles or so ) ; well he's full of it ; driven it 208 miles & slurping gas & revving like crazy between shifts ; Any help appreciated!
