Leaking coolant slowly, but disappears completely when driven

My 96 chevy camero V6 (109,000 miles) almost overheated a few days ago and I noticed that I have a small coolant leak. I can't see where it is though. I replace the liquid, however, when I drive it, large amounts of coolant seem to disappear in a short amount of time leading to my warning gage rising almost into the red on almost every drive. And the last drive, my service engine soon light came on. Anyone have an idea as to what could be the problem and how much it might cost me? :( Thanks.

If you got an auto zone parts store near you, U can get the trouble code scanned, Then fix the part thats causing the problem, U dont want to keep having youre car overheat, Cause you will crack Or blow cyl hd gasket, Which could cost you $1500 in repairs.

Good Luck.

If you can't see it in the engine compartment, have you tried looking inside the car? My 86 Z28's heater core failed and started dumping coolant into the vents and dash until it started leaking onto the passenger's side floor. Of course, the smell would probably be sweet smelling and if you use your defogger setting the windows will probably actually fog up if the heater core is leaking. You might want to pry around the passenger's side dash to see if that's where you're losing it.

Also, have you checked your oil? If you blew a head gasket, you may be leaking coolant into other parts of the engine.

The best approach is to have it block/pressure tested-its leaking somewhere when its pressurized it will come out where its leaking from.

Continued driving it, when the block blows its gonna be more than 1500 deniros.
