1996 Chevy Camaro temperature gadge rises when idoling

The temerature gage on my Camaro is always a little under the middle line, but when it idols it rises, not all the way to the top but a little above the middle. Then when you start driving it cools back down and the gage goes back to just under the middle line. What could be causing this problem? Thank you,
