Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Chevy Camaro 6 cyl Automatic 153xxx miles

I was driving and I looked down at my speedometer and it was at forty but then the needle dropped to twenty and rose up but then started to reach for zero. I then tried to step on the accelerator but there was no reaction, the car just died so I pulled over. The engine wasn't overheated or smoking. I had put twenty dollars of gas ten minutes before. The lights and radio still worked. But when I tried to turn the key it just turned. No noise nor even tried to turn on. What could it be?

I am not sure.
The start was very hot even about an hour after the car shut down.

I need you to check of there is power to the starter. Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for power to the smaller wire on the starter. You should be getting 12+ volts. Only do this if the starter does nothing when you turn to the start position.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

The car shut down on me last night so I couldn't investigate. But this morning I checked the power from the fuses and most wires until I discovered a red wire wrapped in old electrical tape and it seemed burnt.
I uncovered it and it was practically in two pieces, then I cut the piece that was wrapped in tape and securely reconnected the wire with electrical tape.
I then tried to turn on the car and it started :)
