why am I not getting a spark from to the opti distributor?

The Opti-Spark distributors are notorious for failure.

The main design flaw was they are susceptible to moisture. The moister causes arcing which causes carbon tracks inside of the housing.

If you can remove it, clean it out and replace it.

Also, check your ignition control module and the wiring and connectors.
