My niece was driving my car when is suddenly lost power and now it will barely run at an idle, dies or won't pull itself in gear. car garaged all winter, just took it out. has been driven about 50 miles this year. replaced the fuel filter, didn't change. when it sits for a few hours will start up and run fine for 20 or 30 seconds but then goes back to barely running.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs if okay -clean out the idle air control valve, EGR and PCV valves and test throttle position and manifold absolute pressure sensor.

changed map, o2, and throttle position sensors. fuel pressure at the shrader valve is 40 psi at idle, when engines stumbles it bounces between 40 and 50 psi. cleaned egr. I put fuel stablizer in last fall before it was put away, added 5 to 6 gallons of new fuel this year. that didn't help.

if it inly comes on for a sec and then goes out the it probly doesnt hve codes listed but if you jummper terminals A and B the two upper rith most pins it will set the car into diag mode and flash the mil light if there is a code the it will show the first will be code 12 thats one flash, pause then two flashes, this will repeat three times the if there is a code set it will flash three times and so on for every code there after for example 5 flashes pause and then threee flashes is code 53. after you do this you can come back here and look up the codes it gives you in the code definations section.

it sounds like you might have a bad controle mod or pickup coil you can test these.
