Engine Performance problem
1991 Chevy Camaro V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

when I try to hook up my battery cables and start the car, I am getting some serious arcing going on, like the batter is going to blow up with too much juice, I have put a smaller cranking amp battery in but it done the same thing, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hi there, sing is shorted to earth, this is a serious problem it you try to hook up the battery as you can do serious damage to the electrics and the ECU. Ids the battery around the correct way, check that you have not attached a earth to the pos side by mistake,

I checked and I do have the cables on the right way, and I have not hooked it up yet, because when you touch the pos cable with battery post it arcs too much to even connect it

Something is dead shorting, take the fuse out for the ECU so you don't cook it, I hope that this is still ok, take main cable off starter and see if you still have a short, with the arching you describe this will be a major dead short.

I will see what I can find on Mitchell 1 about this, as I am in Australia I am not that sure about your local cars and there VIN's.
