Replaced fusible link at starter. I checked for shorts and did not find anything. I was told it was age and wear in a response from this site. Car is not driven regularly. Just blew it again trying to start. Third start since replaced. Any ideas where to look? Starter?

There are two red wires are they both blowing? They go to ignition switch, fuses and lightswitch. Nothing that would draw amps to blow. What gague link are you using?

First time it was only one of the links that blew.
I have not checked this time.
I replaced it with GM 16awg fusible link wire, just like original.
Sequence of how it happened both times,
1. Try starting,
2. It does not so I stop cranking,
3. Pump the gas a little and to make sure choke on carb is set.
4. Try to restart, started engages and pop the link is gone.
Circuits I can think of are starter/solenoid and ignition switch. I am lost, I could not find any issues with either.
