I recently rebuilt the heads and installed a new distributor. When I tried to restart the engine, the timing kept changing. I got it started and after warm up, I set the valves at one turn down after the rocker arm was tight. The engine would not restart and the timing is way advanced. Is this another problem or what could be wrong now?

Are you following a manual as far as how to adjust the valves? Does it crank faster than before?
