Stuck in Reverse

Car is an original 1967 SS350 Camaro, went to car show the other night, brought car home, had a little trouble getting in to reverse, finally got it in, backed in to driveway, parked, couldnt get out of reverse, car does have a fully built 350, totally chromed, bored 0.30 over, full cam, 750cfm edelbrock, weiand highrise, 355 gears, 10bolt rear, tranny has B&M shift kit in it, over $20k into car, only 38hrs on motor cant understand why this is happened, even got on it on the way home, as soon as it hit 2nd, tires chirped (as usual), no PROBLEMS shifting after that, until I got it home as mentioned above, since then, I have pulled out linkage & shifter, linkage had a little play, installed a couple of washers (couldnt find new bushing) and replaced cotter pins, tightened shifter itself inside the car, was a little loose, to no avail, reinstalled shifter. Still in reverse. May be broken/shimmed off pin in tranny? Possible vacuum line.(Doubt it). Fluid is fine. Any ideas. Rich

Remove the shift cable and see if it operates by hand. May have a frayed cable. Careful. Dont let it roll over you!

No talking shift cable, if you haven checked it or adjusted it, how do you know? The alternative is drop the pan, and check the valve body out. Any "Spare" parts in the pan?
