I own a 1997 Blazer 4WD 6 cyl. 4.3 L. I bought it used almost 2 years ago. It has just over 120,000 miles on it. Earlier this year I had to replace the transmission. Lately it has been running hot, I believe there is a crack in my radiator. This morning driving to work, I noticed a burning smell and noticed that my oil pressure was high. I slowed down to pull over and it went back to normal. This cycle repeated on and off for 20 minutes. Can you give my an explanation as to why this may have happened?

Was it an oil smell?. Youre oil pressure sending unit could be leaking or not functioning properly. Could be a coolant smell, Should have a really sweet smell to it. That would be coolant.

Yes, it was a sweet smell. I could understand why the sweet smell would be there, I had just added some coolant and spilled a little. But then why would that make my oil pressure rise?
