went to start it it wouldn't start hubby took starter off?

i have a 98 chevy blazer 4x4 last tuesday it worked just fine then wednesday went to start it it wouldn't start hubby took starter off and had it test they said it spins but doesn't engage so got new starter hubby put it on now it still doesn't start the motor turns over but that is it any help will be greatly welcome :( thanks bonnie

1. order (timing) =if u did not change timing belt, distridutor=it is not your problem.
2.gas=any gas coming to engine? check (I ussually snif it. I f gas is coming u can smell it (from carburator)
3.electro=take one spark plug out, keep electrode close to engine metal (5mm), somebody turn starter for youcouple seconds,if u see blue spark between sparkplug and engine metal-spark is good.
there are no other reasons not to start.
if u get ur reason-say electro, u start work on it(fuses first)could be many reasons:pickupcoil,computer,etc,but in electro only to bad things:bad contact or very good contact(short cut).
in short:modern cars very comlecative=need to print big book.

possiable that the fuel pump failed try hitting the gas tank while someone cranks the motor if it starts you found your problem take it to your mechanic
