2003 Chevy Blazer Four Wheel Drive Automatic 89,500 miles

my chevy s10 blazer has been dying on me. it sometimes starts when jumped. i went to advance and had battery replaced and it ran all day yesterday, they said the battery was bad. it acts like it wants to crank and its turning over but won't start. now it's not starting even when i tried to jumpstart it. when it was running good during the first few minutes when i was accelorating it made a loud humming noise. the only two things i could figure was either bad alternator or fuel pump. what does this sound like?
