My 2002 Blazer has been good to me but lately it has started to not turn over once in awhile. The first time it happened I thought my battery just lost the ability to turn it over so I walked to the nearest auto parts store and bought a new battery. It still would not turn over even though I had power going to everything. I then turned the key to the on position and jumpped the starter silinoid, the engin turned over and tried to run but stalled as soon as the starter stopped turnning. When this happens if you let it set for a day or so it will start with no problem and might not act up for a month or more. Any ideas?

Have you had the starter tested? If not I would test the starter you local parts store should be able to do this for free. Let me know what you find and we will go from there.

I would have thought that if the starter was bad it would NOT have turned over when I jumped across the Silinoid. When I did that it turned over just find with no slowness at all. So to answer your question, No I have not had the starter tested as I really feel that this is a dead end. It just acts like it is not getting any power to the Starter in order to turn over. I also forgot to mention the last time that there are NO engine codes either.

OK It could be that the solinoid on the starter is the problem and having it tested will answer this. The starter can be good and have a bad solinoid. Also if you would the S term on the back of the solinoid with key in the start position is there power there? If not then starter is not the problem if there is power there then the starter solinoid is bad. So if you would before pulling the starter check that.

Well, the next time it messes up I will check that. If I do not have voltage there what would be your next place to check? The reason I ask is that it might be another month or so before this thing decides to not turn over or it could be later today and I just want to have a list of things to check.
I bought a new neutral safty switch and will be putting that in this weekend (if it hold out that long) but really need to try and have a back up in case this does not fix it as I cant have the wife getting stranded again.

Thanks

Ok next time it does this if there is power there then it is the soliniod on the start, if there is no power there then we need to look into the ignition switch or neutral saftey switch or? When it does mess up again just post the results and I will walk you through it even if it is next month ok.
