it turns over for about 3 seconds and then it acts just like the battery is dead

i just replaced the upper and lower intake gasket on my 2001 4.3 and the car has been sitting for bout 4 weeks and now i cant get it to start it turns over for about 3 seconds and then it acts just like the battery is dead it wont turn over any more if i hook up a charger it will repeat same thing have any ideas any body had the battery tested they said it was perfect

Have you checked the starter or the starter relay? Here is what I need you to do. Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check the smaller wire on the starter for voltage. Do this when it won't crank. You should be getting 12+ volts. Let me know wha tyou find.

i tested the battery and it had 12 volts tested the relay and it was good so i took the starter off and did the bench test with a 1200 cranking amp marine battery and it was real sluggish and had a hardtime kicking in

It sounds like that is the problem. To be sure, take the starter to a nationally recognized parts store and have them bench test the starter for you. Most will do it for free. They will know how many amps the starter is drawing and if it has a bad solenoid, field windings, brushes...

the starter was bad i got a new one and put it on and it still wont start it just turns over verry rufflly i got plenty of feul pressure and ok spark in wires i took the plugs out and turned it over to see if it would turn faster and it did and water came out of the number 6 hole that cant be good

That isn't good. It sounds like either the intake gasket is still leaking or the head gasket. Do a compression test on that cylender. Let me know what you find.
