I was just given this blazer by a friend. It ran fine when he parked it in his driveway about a year ago. I bought a new battery, put it in, checked all the fluids, and tried to start it. I get nothing, not even a clicking noise from the starter. I tried tapping on the starter. I hear the fuel pump come on, and I hear the starter relay energize, but nothing else. I was wondering if something with the factory security system needs to be reset after being without power for so long. My friend who gave me the car assures me it was running fine when he parked it.
Thank You,
Ron

I don't see anything on the starter circuit that has to do with security. Can you turn the crank by hand? It's not froze-up? At the starter relay, terminal 30 is hot all the time. Terminal 85 goes hot with the key in the crank position. When the relay is energized, the purple wire carries voltage to the starter solenoid s terminal.
