Do you have a check engine light and when was the last tune-up? Misfiring could be caused by compression/fuel and ignition problems-Vacuum leaks

Hesitation or misfiring when accelerating. This may be due to a vacuum leak, but it can also be caused by dirty fuel injectors, a weak fuel pump (low fuel pressure) or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. It can also be caused my ignition misfire due to worn or fouled spark plugs, bad spark plug wires, or weak ignition coil.

I did a tune up replaced all the plugs and wires new coil. Would a fuel filter do this or the sensor on the fuel tank. Does not do it as bad in 5 gear and is ok when cold.

Its hard to say where-You can try the fuel filter and see what happens-

Misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
