It should disarm when you unlock the drivers door.If not try the passenger door.If neither one of those works, you may need to have a shop scan the BCM to see where the lack of communication is happening. I take it this is a factory alarm and not an aftermarket

This guide can help

Are we talking flashing external lights or just the security light in the dash? You may be looking at having it scanned to see where the loss of comunication is. Are you using the original key?

May want to try the other key, also follow this procedure

1- Turn key to RUN position, try to start and let key return to ON position
2-After approx. 10 minutes the security light should turn off
3-Turn ignition to OFF position and wait 5 seconds
4-Repeat steps 1-4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles equaling 30 minutes
5- Start engine

We have replaced the computer in our blazer, do we need to reset the security system now? If so how do I do that. Is it possible to remove the security system. We are thinking the security system will not let the injectors work. Thanks

It needs to be reprogramed to recognize the system. Take it to a dealer that has the proper equipment.

Are you sure you have a good connection? Is the security light blinking? If it is try this. Turn the key off, turn the key on and crank the starter for a second and leave the key on. Watch for the light to blink. When it stops blinking, turn the key off for about 10 seconds and see if it will restart. Let me know what happends, we will see what else we can do for ya.

I have a 2001 Blazer Xtreme with shaved doors and a Viper Alarm. The Alarm and door poppers were working about a week ago, but now the remote for the alarm and door poppers won't work. When I push the button to turn the alarm on or off, it won't do anything. Also, I can't get the remote to pop open the doors. It is about 32 degrees here. Would that have anything to do with it? Thanks!

Hi:
The temp could have something to do with it. However, because it's an aftermarket system, we have no wiring schematics or instructions to help you. I will assume the battery in the remote is good, but further than that, nothing.

I would recommend returning to where you had it installed.

Joe

This is my first car that I own. I am having problems with my alarm system. I have Vesco Electronic Security System built into. When I want to start the engine I have to turn off my alarm. What do I need to fix so I don't have this problem again in the future? Also How do I set the alarm so I can use it?

Most alarm systems have to be off for the engine to start. They would not be much good if the alarm allowed the engine to run with it armed.

Now if you mean you also have remote start with this system and that isn't working you need to see if the alarm system is malfunctioning.

Sounds like you also need the manual that came with the alarm.

I bought the vehicle listed above that had the key cylinder pulled out. I have a 1997 with a bad engine. I took the key cylinder from 1997 in 1996 and after about two times of cranking it the fuel pump had stopped working. I diagnosed everything to the best of my knowledge and finally I decided the security had to of shut the car down So iBook said steering wheel off and swapped everything in column related to security. Key cylinder, wiring harness, switch, etc. The only difference was 1997 shifter in floor were as 1996 shifter is on column. I am assuming neutral safety on is under the dash instead of on column so I spliced the wire. After reassembling still nothing. Oh, I was going to swap brain as well which is where I am in the swap and the numbers are totally different. Can I swap? Should I swap? Where to now? I am sure I have missed something.

Wanted to add I have the title for this car. It is not compromised is any way. The differences of opinions on what can be done is varied. I have made all the changeover from 1997 to 1996. The car is not valued enough to take to a mechanic or dealership so if this can be done if someone knows I would very much appreciate the help. If not then a reasonable explanation would also be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you in advance for your time

Today's cars when ignitions are broken and replaced with new or used parts the security system is VIN number matched so when the PCM is activated to start it will not, because the parts you replaced do not match the VIN number. A mechanic can do this with his scanner. So if the car is not worth $100.00 or so if it still ran well and got you where you were going then it should be done.

You might want to put it back together and fix the splice take to a mechanic so he can program it correctly.

The alarm light also is blinking different now that it has stopped working.
I think the problem came form me hooking up windsheild washer. The front wind sheild sprayer worked fine, but the rear sprayer I find was not connected inside hatch door the hose was I guess just spraying in hatch door which caused damage. I was reading that it could be the alarm module? Not sure where that is located?
