I replaced the started in my Blazer about a week ago. I purchased what I thought was a new starter for my blazer and had it installed. 5 days later, the started would not engage and had to have it towed back to the garage and was told that it was the wrong started for the truck and it was also bad. I purchased another new starter which is the correct one for my blazer and now it makes a grinding noise when I start the vehicle. Can you tell me if driving with the incorrect starter caused any other damage?

The grinding noise is either coming from the starter itself, which if it is new is possible but doubtful, or from the flywheel which the starter engages when you are starting the truck. IF the wrong starter was installed originally, it is possible that the teeth of the starter drive could have damaged the flywheel teeth.
