1991 Chevy Blazer front wheels wont engage on 4 wheel

During a recent snowstorm I realized that my 4 wheel drive does not work, the front wheels are not engaging. It will shift into 4 wheel high and low but the diagram of the front wheels does not light up by the shifter. I can sometimes hear the gears engage but no front wheel drive.
