1989 Chevy Blazer parking brake

i have a 89 chevy blazer 4x4 when i push down the park brake it pops right back up what is wrong with it and what do i need to do

Well, it sounds like the mechanism has finally failed after 224 thousand miles. You got your money's worth. You could, by chance, have a sticking park brake release rod. It goes from the release handle to the mechanism. Try pushing the release handle in when you push the pedal. If it still won't stay down, replace the whole park brake mechanism. That's more than likely the problem.
