1989 Chevy Blazer engine runs hot

i have a 1989 chevrolet s-10 blazer recently replaced thermostat and radiator and is still running at about 210 degrees and slowly climbs past i cheecked the water pump as referred by a friend by pinching the hose and feeling it surge as the temperature warmed up and it did is this an effective way to check and is there anything else i should check? thank you

how high does the temp go? have you checked the radiator fan clutch?

i always shut it off to cool when it passes 210 in hopes of not damaging the engine. fan clutch works fine. i am stumped.

you wont over heat until 256. i would watch ato see how high you go. you could have a gauge thats off a little. remember most vehicles that use electric cooling fans will run until 228 degrees before the fan even comes on.
