Hello, in the last 500 Mi my smog pump has started to make a loud noise, not the drive belt and doesnot seem to be from the bearings, the pully tracks normal, it's seucrley mounted and it's TBI 350 gas eng and yes thats the actual milage. In the past the eng ran very quiet, I have heard that this can be normal but seems odd to me. Any advise? Thanks, Ray.

The air pump is permetly lubricated and requires no periodic maintance. If it is making noise, replace it. Don't attempt to lubricate it. In colder weather they do make some noise until the engine warms up, If the pump is getting louder then I would replace it.
