Without warning after being parked overnight the transmission would make grinding noise when attempting to put in drive or reverse. This is an automatic transmission with transfer case on a K-5 Blazer. Had no problems shifting into drive or reverse with it the day before. Temperature here is 24 degrees and dry air and parked in a garage. (Wisconsin). Not sure if the problem is in trany or the transfer case. I personally never heard grinding noise as if shifting a standard without putting in the clutch (Same sound). Hope you can help........
THANK YOU!!!!!

DYLAN I BET YOUR SHIFTER ON THE TRANSFER CASE MOVED. TRY SHIFTING TRANSFER CASE INTO 4 HIGH THEN BACK INTO 2 HIGH. IF THE NOISE IS STILL THERE THEN THE SNAP RING MAY HAVE BROKEN IN THE TRANSFER CASE HOLDING THE OUTPUT SHAFT IN(COMMON) LET US KNOW
