does the engine in a car haft to be level at the carb mount to start and run wright and what is the angle of the drive shaft to the trans. And the rear end. I am working on a 1940 chevy coupe with a 350/350

Engine should be resonably level. But not perfect.
Drive shaft should not exceed 15 deg. Or ujoints will go out frequently.

I agree with Doc on the engine and trans not having to be level, they can run OK at pretty steep angles, but not with good fuel efficiency. Your pinion angle on the rear end will affect the drive shaft as well. You can get spring shims from leaf spring shop in different angles to fix a problem if one occurs. Mickey-d
