I have a '92 Chevy Astro EXT, with about 165,000 miles... I'm a girl so I don't know my engine size except that its a V6. ANYway, someone wants to cut a hole through the floor of my van to access the tank in order to replace the fuel pump; then "tape" it back down when finished. What?

Another person suggested bypassing the tank altogether and mounting an after market fuel pump to the engine.

I am low on $, no lift available, and a full tank of gas.
Talk to me! :D thanks! You know you ROCK, right?

Neither is a great idea...drop the tank with a small amout of gas in it and do it right, all you would need is a puntured fuel tank to add to the cost!
a pump outside won't pull gas thru a bad tank unit...espeially if the screen is clogged!

OK, so my family truckster has begun making an intermittent humming noise while driving it... the biggest problem is that it won't start after it's been running. I can hear the starter running and the engine makes noise, it just won't turn over. I can't smell any gas in the engine... the flywheel is turning just fine... it's as though it's not getting fuel. The spark plugs, and distributor cap are fine, the battery is fine... the poor thing is on it's last leg... of course SOMEONE keeps telling me it's not old until 200K... ya. I'm eager to junk it, but have no choice right now... I'm in school, 4kids, limited funds... you can get out your tissues... I won't tell anyone. :D What's a poor girl to do?

You're ex IS nuts. That's why he is your ex right? Before we pursue this major calamity, could we have some original symptoms in case your ex is barking up the wrong tree? DON'T cut a hole in the floor and maybe that is not even the problem!!!

Talk to us, not your ex.
