Air Conditioning problem
1998 Chevy Astro 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

98 Chevy Astro with 217,000 miles. Air conditioning blows super cold when there is no load on the engine (at idle, going downhill, cruising at moderate speeds). Cold air stops and even feels like warm air when accelerating or going up hill (load on the engine). I'm thinking it's probably a vacuum leak, but where ?

I'm not an ac person, but, If the engine is under heavy load, the computer may shut-off the compressor to reduce the load on the engine. If the refrigerant pressure rises or lowers more than normal, the computer may shut off the compressor.
