1996 Chevy Astro just abruptly quit while driving; won't r

My astro van cranked nicely, backed out of drive, drove off and it abruptly died. ( just like a switch cut off ). Won't restart. full of gas. nearly new battery. drove it all week to work. never had any problems, been an excellent vehicle. could it be a fuseable link? Is there some cheap swap out I can try before having it towed to chevy dealership on monday???
