Having a problem with my very well maintained 95 Chev astro van. Van has 200,000 miles on it, the problem started with it felling felt like it was running out of gas, It kept stalling, never backfired, but always restarted. But now has got to the point where it starts but only runs for 10 second or less.

Checked fuel pressure figuring a bad fuel pump and pressure is fine.

Was about time so installed a new fuel filter, new plugs, wires, cap and ignition module.

Am going to borrow a OCD II code reader, hoping to find a error code.

Am thinking I may have a bad crankshaft timing sensor, Any other thoughs?.

thanks

Checked the error codes today, there are none, Pressure checked the fuel pump again, holds 61 PSI. No bleed down in 20 minutes. If started the fuel pressure drops to about 59 psi until it stalls.

Still starts then stalls for 5-10 seconds, but will continue to run if I spray starting fluid in the air intake every 5 seconds.

Sure sounds like a fuel problem, this is a 1995 Astro and has the CMFI system (1992-1995) with the single central fuel injection called the spyder under the top intake manafold, could I be looking problem with it? Any way to check it?

It sounds like the spyder is the problem. However, the security light isn't staying on is it?

Hi, if your OBD1, you can get mil codes without a scanner. If you have the spider fuel system, the fuel poppets may need cleaning. Do you have the 12 pin data link connector? If so, if you use a jumper wire between A & B terminals of the data link connector, turn key till dash lightes come on, no further. The mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.
