Hello,
When I put my van in park and let it idle, the engine light goes on. It does sound noisier then it ever had, and I thought maybe it was the muffler going, but then the engine light came on.
Had a tune up, changed the distributor cap (had it changed) they suggested maybe a valve seal leak?
I don't want to spend tons of money on it since it is 16 year old vehicle, but it is a wheelchair van, and hard to replace. I like my van and was hoping to keep in for another couple of years at least.
any suggestions as how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

When the check light comes on there is a set fault core lodged in the memory of the ECU, have a scan done to retrieve this code and post it here, I will need it to help diagnose your problem, start here.

Hi,
Thanks Mark for your timely response. I got my van back, after the Dist Cap and Dist rotor were changed. Had a tune up, a valve seal was repaired and it seemed to be ok. Wasn't noisy. THe light hasn't come back on today. Maybe it won't again? Seems ok! Yeah!
I appreciate you looking into it. THe van is getting older now, but it only has 128, 640 Kilometers on it. I think it may be time to start looking and planning for a new wheelchair van?
Thanks again for the help.
Paulo B.

Hi Mark,
Had a scan done, apparently no codes came up?
But I do have a small hole in the muffler. Could that cause the problem?

Hi there,

A small hole in the muffler won't cause this sort of issue, if you are still having tune problems and there is no code set, it will be something not controlled by the ECU, filter, plugs, leads,
