1992 Chevy Astro car seems to want to die unless gas pedal

Car seem to idle fine but when in gear seems to act like its fighting to stay alive. continuous gas pedal pumping keeps it running. Son drove car before problem and did not keep alot of gas in it always. I changed the fuel filter and plugs. Suspect it might be fuel pump but not sure do not have a gauge to test. If it is fuel pump, is that an easy thing to fix. would appreciate any advice on this. thanks

Inspect and test the idle air control valve/throttle position sensor/MAF/MAP sensor and EGR valve if it has one-Also try to check the fuel pressure-
