Have a 91 astrovan that if it starts runs fine but sometimes after sitting overnight will not start. I have changed the ingnition module and the coilpack niether has helped. Its getting fuel I can smell it after trying to crank it and you can here the fuel pump running. There is spark at the coil pack. sometimes it goes months without happening sometimes its every other day. what could be causing this?

Iv had the same issue once on a truck.
It turned out to be the Map Censer.

Also sounds like fuel pump related..?
You say you hear it kick on, but even
a bad fuel pump will still kick on but wont
have the correct pressure to fuel the engine.

Make sure if it do start, add fuel cleaner
and check the EGR valve. You can clean it
with carb cleaner or pure gas. Let it dry for
bit, Put it back in and try it. If all fails,
Check the wires that run through the fire
wall, because Chevy had an issue with croading
wires running through from the engine, to
fuse box computer. for Astro vans.

ok, it has started again, running for a few days now, just waiting for it not to, I'll get lucus for the fuel today, and run it on a quarter to half tank or so, then check into the EGR and MAP censer, then the wires, I hope its not the fuel pump, I hate those, what about the fuel filter I havent changed it and going to change the plugs and wires, hoping that helps, what sucks, Is I wont know what it is for sure til it quits running and change each part in hopes it runs, but it ran the day I changed the coil pack. Someone wanted to charge me $20 to change it. I may be a pregnant female, but I am not stupid.
