The other day my check engine light came on when trying to turn it off the key wouldn't come out. The next day car wouldn't start. Changed the battery car would start but wouldn't turn off and the check engine light was still on car didn't seem to have much juice when trying to accelerate. Changed the ignition switch and car was acting much better check engine light was off and no issues while driving. Two days later check engine light is back on and car is not turning off again. Wanting to know what else to check. Any ideas what to try next before getting ECU checked

WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON

THAT WOULD BE THE FIRST PLACE TO START

THE COMPUTER HAS DETECTED A PROBLEM(S)

THERE MIGHT BE MULTIPLE CODES OUT OF LOTS AND LOTS (YET, THERE IS ONLY ONE LIGHT INFORMING YOU)

GUESSING AND SPENDING MONEY FRUITLESSLY USUALLY "UPDATES" THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE THAT YOU MAY HAVE FAILED TO CATCH UP ON/ KEEP UP WITH, AND AS NUTHIN' HELPS THE PROBLEM AT HAND, YOU CONTINUE TO SPEND AND GET MORE AND MORE FRUSTRATED.

SIMPLY ASKING MR. COMPUTER MIGHT CUT THRU ALL THE CHASE!

TAKE THAT PUPPY TO A POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORE AND LET THEM PLUG THEIR SCANNER IN AND CHECK FOR CODES

THIS IS NORMALLY A FREE SERVICE (AROUND HERE, ADVANCE AUTO/ AUTOZONE/ O'REILLYS/ CAR QUEST ARE LIKE THAT)

THIS MIGHT BE A SIMPLE FIX AND THE AUTO PARTS STORE MIGHT BE ABLE TO OFFER THE SOLUTION.

REGARDLESS, SOLUTION OR NOT, WRITE DOWN THE ACTUAL CODE NUMBERS THAT THEY FIND, DO NOT RELY SOLELY ON WHAT THEIR INTERPRETATIONS OF THE CODE(S) MEAN. A FICTITIOUS EXAMPLE OF A CODE NUMBER MIGHT BE "P0123"

KEEP US POSTED
