My car doesn't start after a short stop like at a grocery store. If I wait for 5
minute and do not crank it many times, it starts in 5 minutes. Following are
the symptoms; any idea what the problem could be

Car Type: 2005 Nissan Altima
Engine Type: 2.5S

Symptoms:
Always starts in the morning or after a long stop
Doesn't start when its a short stop 15 - 20 mins
If I stop the car and restart it immediately, it always starts.
Check Engine Light on

Any suggestion on what the problem could be. So that I could replace this.

May be the same thing with the light. Check your battery for condition including load test most places do for free. They can check charging system at same time. Kind of sounds like that may be the problem.
