After a recent inspection of my car by a local garage, my vehicle now on times will not crank even if all the lights come on the dashboard.

I have got it tested at Advanced Auto Parts and they found the battery, starter and alternator perfectly fine.

I have followed your writing on resetting the security system by disconnecting the negative cable on the battery. So far it has been working okay (but it is only a day since) but don't know for how long.

I don't know what the mechanic inspecting my car did to it. Any advise?

Thanks.

Hi,

That is an interesting one. If everything is checking good, let's see if it continues. It may have simply needed reset. However, if that changes, there could be a weak connection to the battery, the starter could be going bad, there could be a relay issue and so on.

If the problem happens again, let me know. I will walk you through the things to check to determine where the problem is coming from. Please keep in mind, I am assuming you mean the starter wouldn't engage even though other electrical components are working.

I'm going to add a link that explains how to test a starter. I'm adding this in the event it happens again. You can follow the link and let me know what was found.

Let me know if things change or if you have other questions.

Take care and God Bless,

Joe
