Will not start. Code says Cam shaft sensors.

It was running rough and I new the sensor needed changed.I finally stopped starting.

A auto shop said due to the miles I need a new engine.

Can I just have the sensors replaced? It has a 168,000 miles on engine.

Hey ANGIE DICKINSON,

If you can provide us with the codes you have stored?

Why did the shop tell you that you needed a new engine?

Was this a GMC dealer?

I see that there is a TSB for this vehicle regarding camshaft wear that can lead to cylinder head replacement, or a measure to repair the issue. Some can be fixed with programming the PCM.

They would need to carry out the checks to find out what you need first.

I would advise if you have the codes contact a GMC dealer, they should have the info on the checks and a quote depending on what you might need.

If you let us know the codes you have I will try and give you some more information.

Regards, Joe
