Engine problem
1961 Other Cadillac Models V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 150000 miles

I have a 61 cad hearse I recently got and the guy gave me a Rochester carb, I got the adapter plate for it but the bolts that came with the kits are not long enough if I keep the back part on there, am I supposed to remove the black part before I put on the adapter piece?

also whats the best way to find out what hoses go where on the carb? I tryed to search lone but found nothing. I looked at autozone for a book but none there go back to 61

That plate should bolt directly to the manifold with the bolts that come with the adapter coming up from the bottom to line up with carb.

Ok so I can remove the black part they have there, I cant bolt the adapter plate down first because the holes on the carb and the adapter and the manifold are all at the same location, will it hurt if I just get a longer bolt to go though all of them?

Take them out and install new longer studs, use 2 bolts to remove the old studs. Put both nuts on the studs, use 2 wrenches, tighten the bottom nut into the top nut and it will take out the stud, you may have to hold the top nut somewhat
