my gas gauge does not give me any read out, I understand it would be best to take it to a shop. However, I need to know what I am looking at spending I cannot find any kind of estimates online for an idea of how much I am looking at I was hoping you guys would have some idea. Otherwise I have to save up an "X" amount of $ and HOPE that it'll be enough when they give me the cost

First would be to test ifthe gauge itself is capable of functioning. That would be done by locating the sending unit circuit wire, disconnecting it and shorting it to ground. Open circuit I believe reads full empty, and shorting it to ground drives the gauge needle full. If it still does nothing, then you either need to continuity check the wire to the IP cluster, or check it at the cluster. If the wire is good, I would say you have a faulty gauge. If the gauge sweeps when shorted, you either have a faulty sender in the tank, or a poor/open ground that completes the circuit. I am sorry I don't have schematics, or any repair info for a vehicle of this age. As far as a cost to repair, it depends. First, it sounds like you are obligated for a diagnostic fee, which can start aprroximately 100-125 shop rate per hour.
