Planning on going on a long trip and decided to do my own tune up. The spark plugs I had were 2 years old.

I just replaced my spark plugs (Denso Platinum TT) and spark plug wires. The engine is now running rough. The check engine light started flashing and now stays on. I set the gap at.44 (based on Advance Auto Technitian). Not sure what to do to fix this. Don't have a lot of money. Can I fix this without having to take it to the shop. Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,
Trying to save a buck

You are going to have to take it in. They will have to read the code that is making the light come on. You had to screw something up when you replaced the plugs/wires. It will cost you less to take it in than drive it in gas/trouble.
