Thank you for your help. My truck has begun what appears to be a slip from 1st to 2nd gear and a message displays "Action Traction". What does that mean?

You must mean traction active. This is an abs event typically when one wheel is determined to be spinning faster or slower that the others. I don't see a transmission slip causing that. Do you have 4 matched tires, with about equal wear? That would be the first thing to check, after that you may elect to have it diagnosed.
