Service Engine Soon Light ON and stalls at idle

On three occasions, my car has cut off while setting at a stop light. The cut offs have happened days apart. It happened today and now the Service engine soon light is on. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be.

First step would be get the car scanned for trouble codes.
