2001 Cadillac EL Dorado battery/alternator

The red battery symbol on the dashboard flashed twice the past two days. But the information center shows 14.2 volts without a big load and 13.4 with a big load

It is possible that the charge indicator could come on, without there being a charging system deficiency. The switch for the light is internal to the alternator.
